I got sever bots runnin around a server and they switch in and out every map. Skill levels vary from 4.0 to 5.0 and every once in @while I have a bot that likes to camp, or does not want to move. Wtf am I doin wrong? Second question - can I give bots grapple?

We havent got our bots to use grapple, but i swear i have seen them using rocketjumps sometimes.
/bot_grapple "1" or /bot_usehook "1" is told to give bots the grapple, but either its not working, or they are just dumb like hell.
/bot_rocketjump "1" ive seen somewhere too, but i think thats not set on ours, and they still do it sometimes.
/bot_challenge "" is used at ours, its told to make bots more challenging. Maby want to try that one, cause i cant figure out anything else... i bet heres Apps and S4t who have better ideas to you ;D

Well from what I read .. there are commands to enable bot grappling among other things but it seems that was never coded into the quake engine making it useless until quake 4 maybe. Ive never seen a bot grapple and Ive tried my best to make them. Camping bots, well I think this has to do with the ways maps are actually made, since I can run the same bots on different maps and sometimes there act totally lazy and will just wait for opponents to pass by as on other maps they seem to do better. I belive it all lies within the .aas files generated for each map that the bots use for navigation. In some mods I was surprised to see bots no longer chat frag and even strafe . I guess someone needs to quit making mods and start working on serious bot AI . Till then I guess we are all stuck with "dumb" bots .

Ahhhh, sucks.
I noticed that when a bot decides to stand still/camp or just be lazy you can get a reaction from him by shooting, even in the opposite direction from the bot. I think there might be some type of perameter set for particular levels that are mated to the bots. In other words. Xaero may not acth the same in Q3DM12 as he would in his naturual environment of TOURNEY what ever his map is called. Seems he might become confused. This is just a guess, a shot in the dark. I can not see ID programming a bot to each level - who knows.? Nother thing is this, Anarki jumps alot more than other bots, he seems to be much more active than Sarge. Tankjr will opt for a bfg over a rail, and more and more things.
Perhaps some good ol testing bots to the levels might reveal the secrets of getting the maximum out of your bots.

Yes as in bot studio you can set the bots behavior characteristics by changing the parameter values, each bot has its own values but what I've noticed in osp freeze as in yours .. the bots only camp and react to you by sight or sound. Seems worse in freeze play than any other style. I wooped your bots at outlawz freeze, even d969 or whatever the name simply because they camped allowing me to sneak around and take slow careful shots. I was even able to sneak completely up on your voodoo bot, to the point of gaunt range before I rail him point blank in the back for the win ;D . But really I think freeze (in any mod) has a bot AI issue, that I wish I knew how to fix also.

YeaI am now hearing this more and more.
I figured out how to get into the PAK and edit all the bot code, they are set up to be pussies. Certain bots react differently. You can set em up to have vengeance and everything. I just wish I could get the PAK to work after I edit them. I had one bot ready to talk all kinds of shit.
